Ah, invoking island biogeography brings me back to my days at university (I took a course on biogeography). And I can't help but to think of the title of that old science fiction flick "This Island Earth" when reading this scifaiku.
Did you ever read MacArthur and Wilson's "the theory of island biogeography"? A very difficult book at the beginning because of the mathematics. The last time I tried to read it I finally made it through that part and discovered that the rest of the book was a lot more intuitive.
