For anybody who has occasion to visit Tuscaloosa, try to find time to stop by the Geological Survey office. There are various reasons, but here is a new one: we have copies of a brand-new poster made by the Conservation Department, Crayfish of Alabama. It is stunning. The photographs are so sharp and crayfish look pretty interesting. The poster is free. We have a lot of other posters and free publications, so if you haven't been here before, that should be another inducement. If you do stop by, I will show you the core warehouse. Remember that scene at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark? It looks like that!

If you are surprised that we are giving away a poster about animals, don't be. Alabama doesn't have a biological Survey. The work that such an organization would do, if it existed, is done by us. And it has been that way since 1848.
