She kept knitting throughout the entire voyage. Just after the halfway point, there was no longer room inside the ship for the entire scarf. So she wore her suit 24-7, propped an airlock open, and let the scarf trail out behind. It entangled a small stony object, which was why, immediately after the ship landed, it was crushed by a wool-gathered stone.
