Jane Yolen posted to her daily emailed poetry list her answer to a challenge to use “evergreen” in a poem. It was a nice poem, but she kinda cheated.
So....
Everclear gets you high the easy way;
with an evergreen, now,
it takes work.
There may be prickles,
fronds to block the view,
an empty nest, bugs,
but with all that,
a springy seat,
a view,
a sense of I-made-it,
clear air like wine.
