National Fossil Day today

In case you are looking for a way to celebrate National Fossil Day today, the UA Museum (Tuscaloosa) has some afternoon activities that may interest you:


The Alabama Museum of Natural History will hold a National Fossil Day event from 4-6pm on Wed., October 16th.
The Paleontology collections will have specimens from the collections on exhibit
UA Dept. of Engineering will be demonstrating how 3-D scanning and printing can be used with fossils
The Museum will be unveiling the new Elasmosaur specimen collected this summer in Greene County
Hands on activities for the kids!
Astronomy Professor Dr. Ron Buta will be showing some of his recent fossil track way donations
Author Jim Lacefield will give a talk and book signing on his newest edition to the book "Lost Worlds in Alabama Rocks" at 6pm.
The event is free - no charge.
