050214B - childhood assumptions

I suddenly realized that when I walked home, alone, half a mile, from kindergarten, I was 4 & 5 years old. My anxious ocd mom let me do that. I wouldn't have considered it for my kids. At the time, I was a bit bored, but otherwise unperturbed.
