Seadragons all the way down

Earth nestled up top, among fronds
that branch and branch again,
down below, ribbed curves,
its great eyes film and blink.

Fronds oar the deep,
but slow, slow,
millions of years for a lap,
turn and bank, fins flapping.

Cloaked sargasso style,
our world's no burden,
this crazy dance'll soon hit the big 5.0,
billion, that is.

We, none the wiser,
setting sail in hickory-hull boats,
armed with clear eyes and true,
all the while, a stirring in the deep.
