Tuscaloosa - Hwy 82 project public meeting today

Subject: ALDOT Public Involvement meeting

Happy New Year-

An open house meeting will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on January 27, 2015 at the University Church of Christ Auditorium (1200 Julia Tutwiler Drive Tuscaloosa, AL 35404) regarding the proposed project along SR-6 (US-82/McFarland Blvd.) from West of Rose Blvd. to just east of Jug Factory Road. The purpose of this project is to relieve congestion through signal design and access management improvements. Examples of access management improvements include changes to striping, addition/ modification of turn lanes, modification/elimination of median crossovers, addition/modification of raised concrete islands, changes to service roads and side streets, and consolidation/elimination of driveways along the corridor. During this meeting, the public may review project information and maps, ask questions, and discuss the project with ALDOT staff along with representatives from the project design consultants, Gonzalez-Strength & Associates, Inc. and Skipper Consulting, Inc.

From 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., a public forum will be held. Persons wishing to provide comments to ALDOT representatives during the public forum should register at the sign-in table. There is a two (2) minute time limit for each person to speak. The comments will be recorded and reviewed by ALDOT and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and will become part of the public record. Written comments, which will also become part of the public record, may be submitted by completing the comment sheet during the meeting. Written comments after the meeting may be submitted by mail, fax, or in person to the ALDOT West Central Region office. All comments must be received by 5:00 p.m., Thursday, February 12, 2015.

The meeting is being held in a handicap-accessible facility. Anyone requiring special assistance may contact Ms. Holly Eriksen at (205) 553-7030 prior to the meeting. Requests for special assistance should be received at least five (5) business days prior to the meeting.
