they say the sky wasn't blue
till a new word
for a new dye
called for a change of view

before Europeans saw brilliant parrots
other tropical beasties
and English needed something new

when only brown people
saw that brilliant hue
no pink people hove in view

they say the sky wasn't blue
for years when science never knew
in cold countries, peasants too:

a time machine will settle this
and make our language new
