Crinoid ossicle that was bored (ovoid borings filled with dark brown microcrystalline carbonate) and then coated with more microcrystalline carbonate (dark brown). The fossil is in a fine crinoid bryozoan packstone overlying a low-relief carbonate mound that was built by bryozoans, crinoids, and rugose corals. Mississippian Bangor Limestone, North Alabama, thin-section photomicrograph, 1 mm wide.
