This Hollow Earth
Proud engineer/adventurers,
We drilled under our feet,
Straight through a mile or more of rock,
We reached at great depth
A broken and weathered stratum.
Below it, another land,
Peopled by a strange folk,
And below their habitations,
An open cavity of improbable vastness.
Within it there are lights,
Unguessably remote,
They shine and move
With a terrible precision.
I wish I knew nothing of
The terrors that lie beneath
Our beloved Perelandra.
