Lemon Tea Cookies
from 1960s Better Homes & Gardens cookbook
Ingredients
1.5 t vinegar
0.5 c milk
0.5 c butter (113,4 g)
0.75 c granulated sugar
1 egg
1 t shredded lemon peel
1.75 c sifted all-purpose flour
1 t baking powder
0.25 t each soda & salt
Lemon Glaze (0.75 c granulated sugar + 0.25 c lemon juice)
350º oven (176.6° c)
Directions
Stir vinegar into milk. Cream butter & sugar till fluffy,. Beat in egg & peel. Sift dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk; beat after each addition. Drop from teaspoon 2” apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for 12-14 minutes. Remove at once; brush with Lemon Glaze. Makes 48 cookies.
