Dietary Restriction

We meant no offense
the consumption of deceased organisms
is widespread among my people
we are an ignorant folk
the art of extracting nourishment
from earth and air eludes us
I’m sure I could not convince everyone
to dine solely on your little red pills
even if they were delicious
which they are not
we are a contrary race
wipe bare half of the planet
some holdouts would still eat meat
or at least vegetables
