I watched two hummingbirds do battle for about 10 minutes over possession of the feeder on our veranda. They were far more aggressive than I have seen before, suggesting that they were pretty evenly matched. They body slammed each other repeatedly in mid-air, then had a shoving match about two inches above the grass that took them all the way across the yard. My face was about 4 ft from the feeder. They ignored me. I could hear the sound of their bodies slamming into each other. Finally, one of them gave up, and the other stayed just long enough sipping sugar water to prove its point. Both of them must have been exhausted. I made a video of the end of the battle, but it's far too large to upload.
