The Baton Rouge mystery book club meets monthly at the main library. as does the fantasy book club, which we attended for the first time at last month's meeting. The mystery book club meets at noon, which means that people who have day jobs can't be there. Needless to say, the only attendee under the age of 65 was the host, who works for the library and was on the clock during the meeting. There were a total of five people, and we were 40% of the crowd. But it didn't matter. We talked about mystery writers and mystery books, and we've discovered at least three or four we had not heard of before. One of them is a local archaeologist, who apparently has written several very good mystery novels that involve a lot of archeology. We will definitely try one of those. Sorry I can't remember at the moment the names of any of the authors. However, I did borrow a book by Joanne Fluke called Raspberry Danish Murder. I don't yet know whether I will like the book, but with a title like that, I had to try it. I also borrowed two books by Gene Wolfe that I had never seen before, but they are not mysteries. Anyway, even though there is no science fiction club in this town, we have found two groups that we enjoy meeting with.
