Over the last week or so I've texted about 5000 registered voters. Judging from the response, more than 90% of folks do what I do when receiving such texts: they ignore them. Most of those who do respond say something like "take me off your list." The law says do it, but there are SO MANY lists. I've become so inured to intrusive advertizing that it takes a lot to get my attention, and more to hold it. Having a bad memory contributes as well. On top of this, if I am forced to pay attention to an ad, my response is negative in the extreme. Almost everything in most ads is lies anyway. So where are we? I'm in the camp that tries to ignore all attempts at persuasion. We have to do this, because so many people do the opposite. I almost long for the days when these characters sold snake oil from the back of a horse-drawn wagon. Anyway, about voting. Nah, the issue is too complex.
