Up until last year, every member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Poetry Association got to nominate poems for the Rhysling award. All of these poems were included in an anthology and everybody voted for the ones they liked the best. The association has grown so large now that the book it is going to be hard to print and even harder to read through. So this year, for the first time, there will be a panel of judges to weed through the nominations. Only a modest number, ones the judges thought were best, will be printed in the book. I'm a little concerned about how this will work out, because it depends on the biases of the judges, but we shall see. Hopefully, they are all biased in different directions.
