Yesterday afternoon we participated in a rally and march for lgbtq+ youth in Louisiana. It was youth-organized, and very well done. I got hot, and a little sunburned, but I did find bits of shade. It was a great time though, and we had more than 200 people with something to say about mistreating marginalized youth. I hope the governor takes the message to heart. The legislature is about to pass a fistful of bills that are hateful and damaging. He needs to veto them. Some of our legislators appear to wish they lived in Texas or Florida. I wish they did too.

So today, we attended an antique car show and jambalaya festival in a small town not too far from here. I got very hot, and more sunburnt. I don't think this is a peeling-level burn, but we shall see. I had been trying all spring tan my forearms just so I could go to outdoor events. Too hot here to wear long sleeves. Anyway, my son-in-law loves jambalaya and just bought a 79 Corvette, so we kind of had to go. There were some very beautiful old cars and trucks sitting out in the hot sun. We stayed long enough to look at all of them, after eating some jambalaya and Mexican food, and then we left.

I should mention that when I get too hot I don't just get hot. Because I can't sweat, the inside of my body just gets hotter and hotter. Ultimately I become exhausted, and I've never let it get any farther than that.
