Yard Art Graveyard

The place was closed, abandoned, but the fenced front lot was full of lawn decorations: suns, giant flowers, pinwheels, even a metal chicken 14 feet tall. Why was this stuff still here? Anyone could pick up choice outdoor art—it was free for the taking. A grating noise, metal on metal. The eyes on that chicken were closed, right? It stepped swiftly toward us, leaned down with a metallic shriek, and opened its beak. Shattered bones fell out. The patches of crushed ornaments criss-crossing the yard started to make sense.
