The world continued to heat; sea level rose. And rose. Florida became an appendage of South Carolina. Louisiana bayous became continental shelf. Mississippi Bay reached St. Louis. Rhode Island, a memory. In the world ocean only volcanic islands remained, and mini-continents like Madagascar. Ten thousand coastal cities became artificial reefs. Ice was a legend to most; on a few mountaintops, billionaires and their private armies squandered it on themselves. Later, humanity became a memory, after the forests and fields burned. With no more plastic entering Panthalassa, marine life throve, evolved.
