I dreamed I was on a zoom call with some poet friends. I don't really know what we were talking about, but my answering machine was making a lot of noise. I don't even have an answering machine in real life, but in the dream there it was. I turned it off but it kept on making the noise. I discovered that it had five or six on-off switches. It was still making noise. I unplugged it, but by then my monitor had disappeared. Turns out it had just fallen over. Then I woke up, and I realized that the noise of the answering machine had been the ambient noise in my bedroom. Go figure.
