VICFA is no more. At least for this year. I enjoyed the conference, but it was sparsely attended. It had to be postponed a couple of weeks, because Milton insisted on barging in and throwing his way around in the Orlando area, where the conference is based. Many people were unable to change their plans to accommodate the new schedule.
I shared a poetry reading with Adele Gardner, but my schedule prevented me from hearing any of her part of it. I arrived in the nick of time to read half an hour's worth of dark poetry about Gods and Monsters from my last three books. This was in line with the theme of the conference, which had to do with pantheology. We spent the last 8 minutes of the session writing poems to prompts that Adele provided. All in all, it was a great deal of fun.
I attended several other readings. My favorite was a memoir reading by Andy Duncan and Nicola Griffith. Learned a lot about both of them! At one reading the guests were late, so Brian Biswas and I both read a bit while we all waited.
