I have a complete collection of Pogo books by Walt Kelly. These were published between the late 40s and the early 70s, except for one or two that were published after his death. I plan to reread all of these, as soon as I have time, and I was thinking of doing that in chronological order and posting reviews. I think most of these are readily available used, and there have been some reprints over the years. I guess I could touch on those, at least indicating who published them and when. Also, Fantagraphics is currently publishing huge hardback coffee table books of all the newspaper strips. There are going to be 12 total and they are truly magnificent. Reading the comics that way is infinitely superior to reading them in the newspapers where they were originally published, at much smaller size. The books are 50 bucks when they first come out, but the older ones are now available for 45, and I suppose you can find them used for less than that. They're worth it. Pogo is the iconic political comic strip of the mid to late 20th century, and really there hasn't been anything like it. Calvin and Hobbes was similar for the slapstick, and touched on politics, but in a different way. I have those books too. I have too many books, but these are not among the ones I can part with.
