The Max Carrados stories by Ernest Bramah are wonderful. Early 20th century, blind detective, readily available used in reprint editions. Maybe better than the Kai Lung books. Carrados has heightened senses like a Marvel superhero, and is as smart and knowledgeable as Holmes.
