032516b - The eyes have it

So, I have a wrinkled retina. It's like, with one eye, I'm always looking through the bottom of an antique bottle. Challenging. Anyway, yesterday, I went to visit the eye surgeon expecting to make an appointment for surgery. Instead, I have a miracle* cure! Well, not exactly. My retina is almost exactly as wrinkled as it was a few months ago, but my vision is nearly normal. The eye doctor doesn't know how that could be, but the surgery is unlikely to do much good with my vision no more impaired than it is. So we are putting it off indefinitely. Has my brain taught itself to reinterpret the wrinkled images? I would like to think so. In any case, it was a very nice surprise.
