The Enterprise whips around the sun
having not quite sussed the English of the shot
comes out, not in 1964
but in 540 million BC
the away team beams down
to what will one day be New York City
they look around
they gasp, keel over, croak
because everything is barren dirt
far as the eye can see?
no, because there's no oxygen
not so you'd notice
no land plants yet
to pump it out
