All Sandpaper Should Be Lizards

Or sharks.
Rubbing up against a dinosaur
Could flay you alive,
And mind the tail!
The Mesozoic world wasn't people friendly,
So that's why finding your kid,
Cretaceous runaway from the school trip,
Won't be any piece of cake:
Even the fleas are dog size.

This Episode in the Original Series Was Never Released

The Enterprise whips around the sun
having not quite sussed the English of the shot
comes out, not in 1964
but in 540 million BC
the away team beams down
to what will one day be New York City
they look around
they gasp, keel over, croak
because everything is barren dirt
far as the eye can see?
no, because there's no oxygen
not so you'd notice
no land plants yet
to pump it out

Cretaceous estates isn't a bad place to live, if you don't mind the 40-foot-long scimitar toothed predators and hundred-foot veggie lovers, which make having a garden completely impossible.

No Beginning, No End

In moebius time

you always make it back home

you return, in fact, to every place you've been

given enough time (which never ends)

and deja vu isn't an occupational hazard

plaguing chrononauts alone

but natural as breathing

so that time the griffin ate all the chickens

and a couple of dragonets

burned the bookstore down

is freightraining towards you

I would say buy everything you like

but you didn't, did you

so you never will

Change Can Be Good

The Robinsons stepped from their time machine. A pine forest greeted them: birds twittered, insects buzzed, a cool breeze blew pleasantly. Nothing moved.

“We can build a home here,” Father declared, “Earth has finally recovered.”

“Where's Will?” Mother asked worriedly.

“Mom! Dad!” Will ran into the clearing. “We have to go!”

“Why son? Listen: there are bees again!”

The buzzing got much louder. Soon, a bee squeezed into the clearing.

Grandma stepped
from the time machine
Dad in her arms

here's your kid she told me
he needs changing

future-me
his old time machine
for like-new comix

he invested
in growth stocks
left with my daughter

great grandma's
only surviving photo

I recognize
her smile and locket
i hate myself

What if Grandma invented the time machine, traveled to the future, hooked up with a grandson and then went back, Grandpa none the wiser?

The Umbrella Academy

time
he spent
on the moon
no one read
his reports
Luna
shatters
humans die
but lie unblemished
real estate devastated
plot holes
yawn

Don't get me started on the timeline nonsense.

Family Resemblance

Over-developed temporal lobes indicate enhanced chrononautical ability. The kid had some of the biggest I'd ever seen. Doc prescribed suppressors, but I didn't want her to take them. Didn't like how they affected cognition. She jumped at 17; we never saw her again. My wife and I split up, and I hit the bottle hard. Then one night I was flipping through Grandma's old photo album. Great Gran's dimples looked eerily familiar.

Grandfather Paradox

On my last trip to the Proterozoic,
I was eating lunch,
and spilled my stew into a tidal pool:
a veritable primordial soup, it was.

Well, back to the future I go,
fearing the worst,
but everything’s the same,
even that hideous vase
her mother gave us--
I’d really hoped that would be gone at least.

Souvenir

He stopped by that famous house where time travel had been invented, but found only a featureless plain over a mile across. From its center he picked up a pinch of dirt and put it in his pocket, just for luck. It wouldn’t be missed.
