You can lead a Blurg to methane, but you can't make it suck. I look up at the god at the sky and pray to its belted immensity that this stupid animal will just stick its siphon in the sea and get it over with. I'm sure people on other planets don't have this kind of troublesome beast to contend with!

they skip out of the methane

we burn some for fuel
save the rest to experiment

folksongs for new worlds:
the methane, she's arising
and the oxygen getting low
and I scarcely think, we'll take a breath
till we get to [some bubble colony on Titan]

on Titanian seas
burn our catch to keep warm
these long cold nights

Terran nanomachines
burn Titan's seas
floating cities' drain-swirl deaths
will power human lights

John Varley's idea of how centaurs would be constructed, described in his novel "Titan," was intriguing. However, I don't think he thought things through on the biology. More about this later, but creatures with two completely separate reproductive systems can get pretty complicated. Just for instance, simultaneously carrying two sets of triplets might be pretty inconvenient, not to mention what would happen after they were born!
