these gnu potatoes
it's better to shave them
before cooking
better to save a few to plant

don't plant them too close together
that's why they're so expensive
they cover a mess of ground

you'll see the horns
poking out of the soil come spring
within a few weeks
they will need a great deal of hay
harvest before the first frost

they are so worth it!

What Comes Around


I’m sorry to report
the wildebeest, alas,
has been consumed, it gnu
too much, and tasted good;
the jackal (African,
coyote-ish) (hunger
compelled the savage beast;
it ate all but bones and
tendons) left what it could
not digest, a gift for
bacteria to munch,
some yummy leftovers
to birth a billion babes,
one-celled progeny to
decompose their betters.
