Soup kitchen fundraiser 10 days left

This soup kitchen is in my neighborhood, sensu lato, and it's often neglected in favor of bigger charities located downtown. ETCSB serves the area devastated by the Apr. 27th 2011 tornado, as well as adjacent working class neighborhoods.

One copy of Nursery Rhyme Noir, a book of humorous detective stories based on nursery rhymes, $13.

One copy of Night Ship to Never (co-authored with Kendall Evans), a book of science fiction poetry, $9.

One copy of Separate Destinations (co-authored with Kendall Evans and nearly out of print), a book of science fiction poetry, $8.

One copy of Brushfires, a book of science fiction and fantasy poetry, $8.

Five lifetime subscriptions to Dreams and Nightmares magazine, which includes available back issues,$90 each.

To purchase any of the items listed pay by PayPal to jopnquog -at- gmail.com, or send a check to me at 1300 Kicker Rd., Tuscaloosa, AL 35404. I must receive PayPal payments by midnight December 7 and anything mailed must be postmarked by that date and time to qualify for the fundraiser.

holiday donation poll

I always have some sort of holiday fundraiser in which I donate income from sale of my stuff to my local soup kitchen, the East Tuscaloosa Community Soup Bowl. Question: what's best?

Donate all or part?
Dreams & Nightmares or chapbooks?
Fiction or poetry books?
Long time for fundraiser or short?
sell custom-written poem or flash story?
Other comments?

fundraiser thin on the ground this year

I was only able to donate $30 this year to my local soup kitchen, as a result of my annual fundraiser of books and magazines. I'm going to think about new ways to raise money for them, and if anybody has suggestions, feel free to let me know.

Holiday soup-kitchen fundraiser --12 days left!

Annual holiday fundraiser for East Tuscaloosa Community Soup Bowl

Most of you probably remember that I raise money for my local soup kitchen each year about this time by selling some of my publications and donating the proceeds. This is what I'm doing this year.

I have 7 recent back issues of Dreams and Nightmares. Order anywhere from 1 to 7 of these at $4 each (a 20% discount) and I'll donate all the money to the Soup Bowl. If you already have some of the last 7 issues, tell me which ones you want or which ones you have.

I also have a few copies of my two collaborative chapbooks with Kendall Evans. Separate Destinations is $7 and Night Ship to Never is $8. Order either one now (or both, for $13) and I'll donate all the money to the Soup Bowl. And I'll sign the books. By the way, Separate Destinations is out of print, and I only have three copies left. If you don't buy them from me, now, you might not be able to get them at all.

So that's the deal. 100% of the money goes to charity and you get books or magazines that make great holiday presents.

I prefer payment to PayPal at jopnquog@Gmail.com. If that doesn't work for you, try 1300 Kicker Rd, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.

I must receive your order by December 7, 2010.

Third Annual DN Charity Fundraiser

Third Annual DN Charity Fundraiser

Subscribe to Dreams and Nightmares – donate to community soup bowl

Beginning now and continuing through December 23, 2009, when you buy a lifetime subscription to Dreams and Nightmares ($90) I will donate half ($45) to the East Tuscaloosa Community Soup Bowl, which is my local soup kitchen. I know there are many people in the world who have needs, but I choose to make much of my community outreach gastronomic. The soup bowl is run by a small and dedicated group. Their current goal is to be able to serve lunch every day. In a small way I'm helping them do that.

Believe this: $90 for a lifetime supply of an award-winning genre poetry magazine (Professional Book Center merit award; HWA Stoker nomination; YBF&H honorable mentions; SFPA Rhysling nominations & winners). A very very good deal!

But wait, there's more!

You also get copies of all available back issues when you sign up (9 are available right now, a $45 value). DN has been around for 23 years, and 84 issues have been published so far. Think of a name in genre poetry -- I have probably published something by that person. You can see the tables of contents of some back issues and the covers of more of them at the magazine's website (http://dreamsandnightmares.interstellardustmites.com/).

Now is a great time to subscribe.

Oh, check out my poetry blog at http://dreamsandnightmaresmagazine.blogspot.com.
